After weeks of rumors, Marvel Comics has confirmed that the X-Men character Northstar will be marrying his boyfriend Kyle in the June edition ofAstonishing X-Men #51.
Last year, Archie’s Kevin Keller made a splash by marrying his longtime comic boyfriend, so Marvel seems to be following suit. Northstar was the first Marvel character to come out and remains the most well-known of the franchise’s gay characters.
The issue will be out on June 20, with some special covers available shortly after, and some retailers are already planning wedding-themed events to celebrate the launch. Marvel is expecting worldwide media coverage across a number of platforms.
